Cryo-Thermo therapy
Controlled cold and heat to reduce pain and inflammation and support functional recovery.
Benefits of cryo-thermo therapy
Pain Relief
Cold can be used to provide an analgesic effect depending on the therapeutic objective.
Muscle Relaxation
Thermotherapy can support muscle relaxation through the controlled application of heat.
Improved Circulation
Heat increases blood flow and supports microcirculation in the treated tissues.
Improved Tissue Oxygenation
Increased blood flow contributes to improved oxygenation of the tissues.
Support for Swelling and Inflammation
The different cryo-thermal modes enable targeted applications in the presence of edema and inflammatory conditions.
Applications of cryo-thermo therapy
Cryo-thermotherapy can be used in physiotherapy and rehabilitation for the controlled application of cold and heat according to specific therapeutic requirements.
- Trauma and Post-Traumatic Conditions
Cryotherapy can be used in the treatment of recent trauma and associated pain. - Post-Traumatic Edema
Cold applications can support the treatment of post-traumatic swelling and edema. - Joint Pain and Inflammatory Conditions
Cold therapy can be used for various joint and inflammatory conditions. - Tendinitis and Tendinopathies
Cold can be used in the treatment of tendinitis and inflammatory conditions of the tendons. - Muscle Contractures and Muscle Conditions
Heat, cold and Thermal-Shock can be used specifically for contractures, muscle tension and spasms. - Functional Recovery
Thermal-Shock and cryo-thermal applications can be used during functional recovery and after physical activity.
How does cryo-thermo therapy work?
Cryo-thermo therapy combines the controlled use of cold and heat within a single therapeutic approach.
Cryotherapy uses cold and is employed, among other applications, in the treatment of recent trauma, tendinitis and inflammatory joint conditions.
Thermotherapy uses heat to promote blood flow and tissue oxygenation, with analgesic and muscle-relaxing effects.
Depending on the system, cryotherapy, thermotherapy, Thermal-Shock and contrast therapy® can be used.
Thermal-Shock and contrast therapy®
Thermal-Shock consists of a rapid, controlled change in temperature. In qmd® cryo-thermal systems, it enables a temperature reduction of 30 °C within 45 seconds.
contrast therapy® involves the alternating application of controlled heat and cold cycles and is used, among other applications, in the management of edema, pain, muscle contractures and certain inflammatory conditions.
Devices for cryo-thermo therapy
The qmd Cryo-Thermal range includes different configurations, from complete and portable solutions to systems for specific applications and modules that can be integrated with qmd laser systems.
